long term the ai bottleneck is not compute, it's data soon most of the internet will be filled with ai generated content and there will be nothing to train future ais on this is why openai is building thier own social network and why elon and zuck continue investing in x and threads puts farcaster in a funny spot

Totally agree and that’s exactly why Farcaster matters. People here aren’t just farming engagement or feeding an algo. We’re building real human relationships and sharing real thoughts.

pretty spot on, though I think world class journalism will continue to be a craft handled by humans (also wise for OpenAI to make deals to train on those)

When you say funny spot what do you mean exactly? Seems like having social data connected to onchain financial data could carry a premium if packaged correctly for training data and with incentive layers for the users baked in

i have heard that they have enough data for training, but they have no idea how to use it and how to develop AI in the next few years. for now we can only use multiple libraries and ask multiple questions for the results, but it is not the simple 0 1 situation. i know that we can generate a games and something like that, but if you need to use it in any extended case. it’s just shitting

i wish it were true, but there's barely any expert content here (or any other social) that would make a difference plus a lot of it is already gpt output

Potentially a super powerful spot if the network scales considerably given the more dynamic social graph, onchain interactivity, etc.

This data will work for some verticals, but not for everything. Is AI supposed to survive only on social data? Maybe it is more than enough.

Ha I had drafted a similar thought in response to @sdv.eth the other day: This might be the best that internet content will ever be. Mostly human-generated and almost exhaustively collected. It won’t be long before there’s more slop than not-slop. If information had genetics, it would be getting incestuous in the near future.

The key would be to make Farcaster the go-to for high quality and human generated content

openAI interest in building their own social network might have more to do with gaining a moat in distribution. LLMs are being commoditized more heavily than anyone anticipated and openAI is looking for differentiators (good UX, DevX, social layer).

Puts it in a great spot if it's a place where I can write a banger and nobody will train with it.
