for UX, do you prefer: 1) one page 2) step-by-step think google forms vs. typeform

I’m learning something new for the first time… like this is totally new to me and I need to focus on the task at hand… step-by-step. If I know what I am doing and what I need…one page…easier and faster to scan. I personally like buildspace — it’s a mixture of both. (Though it is easy for me to get ahe

Depends on the context. Say the form asks to enter personal details. I’ve saved the info in my password manager. In that case, with one click, all my details are auto-filled for me. If this was a step by step like typeform, would be annoying. On the other hand, filling invite or feedback forms are fun in typeform.

If it’s small enough, much prefer one page (knowing it’s short helps a lot). If it’s long, prefer page by page (like a 10min survey)

Ideally there should be user choice, kind of like the light and dark mode toggle on some websites

I think it depends. Do-it-once type things like onboarding I prefer step-by-step. Common/daily tasks should be one page

Other Google products implement step-by-step (eg Google home). There’s a dopamine hit from completion satisfaction you get on SBS that you typically don’t get on OP. But you can UX engineer that into OP. Most don’t and so my simple brain craves SBS

step by step can be okay as long as it's clear how far I am in the process, and also that I can go back/forward without losing my progress

One page simply because people have abused step by step too much. One page has transparency to commitment.
