Betterment is a nonlinear journey and what is better for one may not be better for another. Judgment of one being better than another is also likely a reflection of how one feels about their own betterment

2nd part (improve) introduces time into the equation. Not only has the reference point changed (yourself vs another person) but what is being measured (being a good person) is measured differently. We need a 2x2 matrix

If I understand this correctly, disagree. If their current self is 10 (arbitrary number of goodness) and the other person is 1000, maybe they can spend their whole life becoming 20 but still not be 1000.

It's a scoping question imo, better on what? It's practically impossible to compare two individuals without restrictive scoping (running fast, being good with numbers, or languages) Same with comparing your current self to your past self, but maybe easier to do since it's easier to measure So agree if we're talking about clear scoped measures

disagree; you can fairly use your old self as a yardstick to determine that you are progressing, but comparing 2 people using "better/worse" language is always unfair, always missing some context and history, always harmful to both parties.
