with the emergence and proliferation of AI-generated content, i believe we will have to shift from a default-true to default-false mental model when interacting with online content. but holy shit do you know how depressing it is to assume the worst in everyone, which to me is to assume that they are inauthentic?

What I’m working on with zkTLS can potentially help here with identity and provenance. Can be used to know it’s a unique human, but the content is in the general case hard to solve for. If it were my way, someone can try and pass of ai content but if they get caught would burn that identity

you're so correct We need to become more critical of "what" we can actually verify and "how" easy can we make it to verify @witness we shared this piece that describes the 3 verifiable properties of any piece of data: what, who and when https://witness.co/blog/what-the-hell-is-digital-ownership

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I think we are intrinsically getting better at filtering inauthenticity and AI responses subconsciously. Or at least, I feel like that's happening with me already. Recently, especially with Moxie, I have found myself skipping over comments that I would have engaged with months past. And what's weird is that I don't consciously give it much thought anymore. I just kinda see past it. I hope this continues to happen even more as AI proliferates. Maybe we can all 'develop an eye' for it. idk. 🤷‍♂️

tbh i've questioned everything i've ever read online that seemed fishy but i also spent a ton of time in research labs so it comes second nature steps: 1. read something online 2. "huh, that seems unlikely" 3. google scholar 4. find peer reviewed paper from legitimate journal 5. look at what group they tested on, blind/double blind, controls 6. read actual findings & conclusion 7. determine if original info was true, false, or a misinterpretation of research/knowledge, or if the article is biased and misleading itself it's a lot to ask of folks who are just doom scrolling and mindlessly consuming content... and this is just for scientific claims, not historical or even deep fakes and ai-generated images fuuuuuu

Default-false has been my mindset since 2016 when it comes to digital information channels. But feels like this is separate from assuming good intent and I don't think AI changes that.

I‘d be worried if that’s not the default model anyways. Default false is what I go with. Default curious to research if important enough. Else I discard If researched/ quickly checked then I switch to true or allegedly

I don't think this is as done a deal as the media makes this out to be. Everyone assumes that we won't be able to develop AI tools that can certify unique or unaltered content. My pov is that both realities are in play.

I’m curious as to what type of AI-generated content you are referring to. imo AI assistance provides some benefits to creators who are using it responsibly and transparently. by proxy, there’s a lot of potential benefit to viewing. I also don’t think it’s going away and we will adapt like humans always do.

Depressing and even more stressful. This is where an open graph will be actually helpful. Most people will only consume information from a selected few that has a history of providing correct information. The history will be public and completely auditable.

This is also getting worst with the lack of tools detecting fake content from real one! More over some cases will need real investigation ti get a result fake/notfake

Right now almost everyone is relying on ai for almost everything But when you see authenticity you’d know it sincerely Cause true art you’d notice a repetition not in a bad way but like in design style or drawing style
