The farcaster app is a social media app built around Degen in the sense that you get an airdrop for tipping degen from your daily tip allowance to other people and other people tip you with degen for posting interesting stuff. You can check how much your tipping allowance is with frames, but it can take a bit to update

agree. not concerned about degen itself, concerned about how people are learning this misrepresentation and then focused on what i can do (personally) to fix it.

degen might be the best and the worst thing that has happened to Farcaster.

It'll be a small thing in the grand scheme of things though.

probably twitter spaces - there have been quite a few warpcast 'how tos' focused on this.

yeah i mean OP's verbiage is very off. 

and i agree that i'd describe farcaster and warpcast the same way.

i do think degen has evolved past just a social utility token into a decentralized community (i want to say  degen is DAO-ish, but obviously that's not quite right).

There is a lot of misconceptions around decentralized social network, even what’s farcaster, warpcast, degen. This is a based on a population of 200+ guests at farcaster community meetup last night. More work needs to be done to educate whilst onboarding new users 💜

These are like greenfield crypto users it would appear coming in from crypto youtube. 

On one hand, it's great to see adoption from newbies. On the other hand, the flow of misinformation is going to become problematic.

Any Farcaster-DEGEN affiliation is very dangerous imo. Don't want Farcaster DAU to be driven by degen price

Yeah I guess things like this are just a consequence of the success of FC/WC working so well w/ Degen. Many new people came here because they heard this is where it started. It's not that surprising, but it's just a reminder to educate. Easy to forget how confusing it is when you're totally new here 😉

Yeah not a good take. Like saying Ethereum is a network built around NFTs. They are just not getting it, but hopefully they will with time.
