Struggle with it all the time. Best advice I can give is to cut out all negative self-talk and have cofounders/a close group that hypes each other up. Odds are you’re brilliant and your friends/supporters will want others to see what they see!

something @barmstrong taught me that helped is to be slightly overconfident about your own abilities i.e. if you think you are at X, act as if you are at X + 10% for most people who have impostors syndrome this results in a positive recalibration loop

slightly more subtle version: When you judge your efforts make sure you did your best so you dont compare your (low) efforts to something someone else worked very hard for (even if they made it seem effortless) magic is magic bc people would never believe anyone work so hard

I like Alfred Adler's point: "We must have the courage to be imperfect." At the risk of hawking my own work... THIS is a great example of what folks work through in coaching.

I’ll go straight to how I deal with it: having honest conversations with peers and mentors who can give you their objective opinion, and working over time to improve the weaker skills. Happy to chat any time about my specific experience.

I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome my entire career. The number one thing I’ve found that helps is recognizing the phenomenon is remarkably common, at all levels and roles.

The thing that helped me most is to recognize that impostor syndrome stems from being overly focused or conscious of the self. When I tried to focus less on myself/my role and more on the task at hand - the problem, the goal, the truth - everything became easier

just try to accept it ... tell me how you fell when you experienced it? anxious? for me going for exercise helps, be aware also helps. think of it, your brain is undergoing changes when you experiencing it. it only gets better, if you stay at it.

Have and do struggle with it. An analogy that’s helped me: when an NHL team wins the cup, they’re the best that season. If they don’t win the next season, they’re still professional, world class players always working to improve. Doesn’t mean they win the cup every year.

This framing helped me: If you're struggling with imposter syndrome, it means you're seeing gaps and you're consciously trying to improve. Which is exactly the thing that will make you good at what you're worried about.

What drives imposter syndrome? Fear. Fear of what? Fear of who? I have to stop and ask myself: “if I fear judgment, why would I want to be around judgmental people?” Surprisingly helpful.

I try and meet/talk to people who are a few steps ahead of me. Humanising it all is my reminder that it is all possible.
