gm, some AM thoughts: - sorbet belongs in a cup, not a cone - never met a successful founder or resilient friend that wasn’t bullied as a kid (or adult) - it is better to measure life in actual happy moments, not potential happiness - someone should do a study on the casual use of the word autistic (and retarded)

related to measuring life. when we’re on vacation, life feels “longer”. Maybe because of the fullness of days and taste of new experiences. You often live the whole life during a week/two of a trip, while your friends barely noticed you’re away. It passed in a blink for them. Questionable about sorbet in a cup though 👀

retarded is the best choice because the semantic context is often friendly. Asking some unfiltered LLMs would give the best representation. So is word policing wrong? No, i once got a lecture from a girl because her brother had more severe autism, and so I might say @briang is retarded here but I wouldnt say it casually to a stranger. Paul graham wrote about “retarded” in his book. Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania is also interesting as a cultural mixing pot, not overly conservative/liberal— we have friendly and negative racism

I don’t really sorbet. Yet if it was in a cup, the best eating experience would be a glass dish with a proper dessert spoon.

Gm Ted, That’s a strong take you’ve got there, From your observation and understanding, what time does “being bullied” play in being successful ?

Had to check what sorbet was, isn’t that ice cream?! As to the autistic remarks, I think it’s an overuse of the word in close friendships and has now been taken as a regular thing to use incorrectly

That third one! I normally have some sort of measurement for happiness, but I often wonder it is possible (or even healthier) to try not measure it all.

feels like adhd/autism content massively contributed to colloquializing the terms I was actually shocked how casual it was in the states, the place I expected the worst reaction to throwing it around lightly But then I seen the video feed algos and figured it made sense

Retarded seems like a more mocking and abusive word to a person Autistic is like the better way of saying someone has a medical condition and needs help instead of getting mocked at

Well I agree with everything except the third point Don’t you think potential happiness is what’s driving people to even have a reason to live ? Cause nowadays it’s actually so hard to have happy moments but the thought of you getting that one day keeps you motivated and gives you the will to even go harder
