I would never take a test like this because I don’t trust private companies with my data. …is what I would say publicly but really I don’t want some genetic algorithm confirming I am a moron.

I wasn't aware of Nucleus but found these alternatives pretty fascinating a couple of years ago. Both of them claim they hand over full ownership of genome data back to their users who can then control how and where it is shared with researchers to potentially be monetised (by leveraging blockchain to some degree). https://genetica.asia/en/news/private-genome-sequencing-with-genetica-and-the-oasis-network.html https://nebula.org/whole-genome-sequencing-dna-test/

Today I learned @ted and I are both huge genetics nerds. If you already have your 23andMe data you can get way cooler analysis running it through https://www.promethease.com/ if you don’t want to splurge on nucleus.

Epigenetics is such a fascinating field. It’s crazy how quickly we went from “it’s all nature v nurture” to “actchually it turns out it’s not that simple at all” thanks to epigenetic research, like for example into the effects of certain environmental factors on fetus development.
