genuine question: why do some crypto founders choose to make it into a big PR dunk when they decide to switch chains? most criticism re: chains is legit, but the convo often devolves into tribalism (not so productive) and i end up learning nada about the founder's actual product lol

“Other chain bad” is the favorite thing for the members of new chain to hear (since it’s their deepest wish) So it gives a lot of tailwind to the person moving. Is my guess.

i think it's good marketing for the chain they're moving to, and if they're moving they are 1. getting a grant / support from the new chain and/or 2. mad at old chain

It's an easy way to generate engagement. Everyone loves their tribe. Why not milk the most you can out of the move?

great point, feels like emphasizing why their app needs certain things only available on a specific chain makes for better discourse, helps others who might be thinking the same, and ultimately helps both chains improve

Uninformed guess: same reason people badmouth their former employer. Short-sighted view, immaturity, ego getting in the way, and lack of life experience to understand that burning bridges has no upside, especially in a small industry. It's a move that loses support from proponents of the old chain, and it only gains arms-length and transactional support from the new chain, so even from a marketing standpoint it's not the smart play they think it is. But when a founder leaves Ethereum to go to Cosmos/SQLana, the average IQ of both chains increases, so 🤷‍♂️

I assume you’re referring to unlonely’s announcement, but imo time.fun handled it pretty well today: https://medium.com/@timedotfun/our-migration-to-solana-ce6097d6a2ce

Yeah, and when they switch chains, I’m like… soo, what was wrong with the old chain? Are you saying you made a mistake choosing the wrong chain from the start and this is you trying to fix it? And we should celebrate this?? 🤔
