people talk about solana ux but every time i've wanted to swap in phantom i've had transactions fail 5+ times before going through. is this better or worse ux than paying $50 for a swap when the chain is under high load?

The reason the UX is good for certain apps and bad for others is completely reliant on who built it and how. Helius has some really helpful documentation on how to get transactions through for your users but the infrastructure required is relatively expensive depending on your use case. Trading highly contentious launches genuinely requires running your own infra or being willing to slip hard. Staked RPC + priority fee + JITO bundle and you might hit.

Not trying to disagree to disagree, but I never had a txn fail via Phantom. I have heard of it being frustrating for a bunch of people though.

Solana is already reaching its limit. Sonic chain is there to pick up on that with its real time finality.

MUCH better are you seriously equating clicking a button multiple times vs spending $50 Think about what dex’s do - if the price is flying you are making a pair trade when the ratio is FLYING - if you don’t want this stick to traditional finance, otherwise this is the decentralized future we wanted

eh, if you use jup everything works pretty much exactly like uniswap except it's faster and cheaper. only get failed txn if your fees aren't set high enough and there's huge congestion. the audience for swapping in-wallet is complete beginners who aren't trading size and don't care or are unaware of the huge fees being charged. but yes agreed, much bigger issues with fees being set correctly in a solana context than eth

unless there is heavy tx volume on that coin, it usually works the first time for me.

nah the good UX and app season on Solana are just memes yea phantom is pretty smooth ngl, id also argue consumers pay more for consistency and inconsistency even with low fees is a worse UX
