Can we talk about mental fitness? I'm in a funk - can't focus on work and don't feel like doing my usual escapes of reading or streaming. casting for ideas...

Depression or burnout will need some other intervention but IMO never hurts to get the fundamentals in line: -sleep -water -vitamins/minerals Sounds dumb probably but e.g. most people are Vitamin D deficient and symptoms can look like depression. Dehydration can cause anxiety, etc. Hang in there πŸ’ͺ

I have been following a few Huberman popularized ideas. - Morning movement, just a little to make it doable and consistent. - β€œcold’ish” shower - Big glass of water with electrolytes - Outside light exposure Wait over an hour after wake up time to have coffee.

- recently been doing walks with no headphones, - using brainwave app while trying to sit still outside (in nature), and - doing things I stopped doing that I felt gave me a mental edge at one point in the past (writing).

I hear ya robeee! I have been there the past few weeks. I've discovered some things that work for me to escape the clouds. - Fruit for breakfast - Break a sweat early in the day. - Do not idly check social media! - Interact with people IRL. See a friend, talk to a stranger. - structure the day: joy / work / joy

Some ideas.. Less content - hurts in the beginning but the brain will thank you. Working from some other place. Trying to address the other needs that you have and are putting pressure on yourself. Create something for the sale of it!

I like Pomodoro technique for chunking work. I like bejeweled or Tetris for a mini break. Documented to help with PTSD and focus.

Ironically (re:fitness) stillness, ideally in nature, is a huge source of energy. Simplification is the name of the game; some great suggestions below. Social media is prob the worst enemy here :(
