So I’m starting to see the dark side of the quote cast meta. Quote casts are powerful ways to get the attention of the OG caster, but only when used to add to the conversation and try to get more eyes on it. When it’s used to ask a question to the original caster instead of replying to them and asking directly, it feels gross and I don’t like it. What is the point of this? It feels like shallow engagement bait rather than adding to the conversation. I hope this is not the new trend. Most will ignore it.

Isn't that because of engagement? Replies are not valued at all. If you quote, there is a possibility of evaluation. I don't much like that either.

It's generally an extractionary method that people are using to trying to get more juice into their WC Rewards @push- and I were talking about it the other day

I think it works well why you are unearthing a caster who would normally go by unrecognised. Case in point, when Dan picked up on one of my replies and quote casted it. If it’s for the purpose of attracting attention to the original caster, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. As for the latter, it’s kind of a meme meta that I think people are just kind of tongue in cheek abusing 😂 And then there are those who are maximising points for the chart.

We should be QCing to add our own words to what the OG cast already said but people will literally qc me a question to my post and expect me to answer lol (i will soon start blocking people fr😭) Its gotten really really annoying and although i do qc a lot i always make sure to reply as well to keep the original conversation going and my qc is usually just me affirming the OG cast or adding my thoughts.

I always saw it as a game, I never stopped to think that it was a crop to climb the leaderboard. I understand how you can feel if this happens to you often. It may be that spam accounts try to get out of there and that's why they do it continuously. They will think that it is the ideal way to achieve it. Unfortunately, they are wrong. I feel sorry for accounts that are still in label 1 label wrongly and if they respond to the casts they are not seen, it is being difficult for them to get out of there. I understand that they try to do everything possible, but the algorithm doesn't help.

Would say on general that if the focus is the original caster I would say: reply. If your focus is the rest of the world: quote cast. But, message and focus should be in line. Long answer to say agree with the nuance for mainly rhetorical questions.
