picked up "courage to be disliked" off @pmarca's reading list. cringe title but great book with a forgotten message on agency, courage and responsibility. its written as a socratic dialogue, I recommend.

Some difficult news: after years of building the best place to chat sports, we've made the difficult decision to sunset @bunches. To our investors, friends, and fellow sports fans who supported us along the way: thank you. I’m incredibly excited about what’s next for the team, and can’t wait to see what they do next. If you’re hiring, get in touch!

also a quick PSA: me and the @base core team are taking a recharge through 1/6 — expect less posting and slower response times. bringing the world onchain is a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm so proud of everything we accomplished this year. can't wait for next year.

The new leader of Syria Ahmed al-Sharaa (formerly known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammed al-Jolani) meeting with Turkey’s foreign minister. Sharaa has recently upped his clothing game and is not just wearing a suit but even a tie now. Sharaa also recently met with top U.S. State Department officials, after which he was removed from the terrorist wanted list where he had a $10M bounty on his head previously. He was formerly a senior member of a ruthless Al Qaeda branch in Iraq, but since he won the war in Syria he has been reaccepted even in Washington. Lesson: The only thing that matters is winning.

It’s interesting that Thiel feels like more of a puppeteer than Musk. The latter in theory is objectively more powerful but it seems like he’s more a part of the Thiel cohort than the other way around

Crypto should be viewed through the lens of culture as much as it is through the lens of technology It's the frontier of "cool", which often looks subversive at the outset and begins as an underground scene. This is also why adoption takes time, and won't come thru milquetoast appeals to the mainstream culture (ie. "web3" or "distributed ledger technology") @nonlinear.eth had an interesting insight to add (originating from Henry Rollins), which is: crypto is more hip-hop than punk because we embrace money and success That's why crypto will permeate the culture. Because cool + $$$ has historically been a recipe for adoption in America, and by extension, the internet
