Furiosa review + Helmsworth. He chews up every scene + The novelty and execution of 'road war'. Anytime the war rig is on screen, things are intense + Some hilarious lines "competent and excessively resentful". + Miller loves building mechanical contraptions + Anya Taylor Joy doing Theron's voice + Maybe one of the most creative/dark ways a bad guy is killed off. - It felt unbalanced, too much time before ATJ shows up. - the music is disappointing. None of the pounding theme we loved from Fury Road - Lacked that certain style/flair (the guitar guy) from the first movie. - Not sure ANJ has the same presence for this as Theron did. Maybe impossible to live upto hype from Fury Road.

Watching Saltburn after living in the UK for about a year gives it a whole different context/interpretation.

Movie disappointment of the year : “Civil War”. Nihilistic, sort of…basic. Outside of Plemons, very forgettable.

Two big pet peeves in any TV show and movie that are tropes but still come up and annoy me everytime. - two characters talking in a car and the car runs into a crash. To this day makes me nervous about watching a car conversation - protagonist calls his wife/girlfriend : “pack up your bags and get out right now. The bad guys are coming for you” Wife/girlfriend: “you always act like this. I’m not listening to you” ( hangs up)

I watched Wall-E again after ages as I was showing it to my daughter. I realized Pixar had an issue - how do you have a silent robot but then tell you complex things like hopes and dreams. And they solve it ingeniously - Wall-E watching old Hollywood movies about love. Brilliant solve to a hard problem.

We need a word for the emotion where the audience figures out what is going to happen a split second before it does - and it is awesome. Ex: “on your left” in Avengers: End Game.

Something I worry about: is how any position that is not extreme will get invariably get “primaried” by those with more extreme positions in any online debate. They will attract more energy , easier to get social capital and also plays well to most online algorithms. Having the center get and hold energy seems an unsolved problem.

Really enjoyed Fall Guy. Very "classic Hollywood" at its best. I used to watch the original series with Lee Majors this is very loosely based on.

I ask this question every 6 months on various group chats but thought it would be fun to ask here: what do you think will be a mainstream consumer adopted crypto application or use case over next 5 years. Think 100m+ DAU. The only catch is: you can’t pick what you’re working on or directly involved with. :)

Group chats rule the world. Over the last few years I’ve seen most conversation switch to small group chats. I tried to write down what I see common between them. https://sriramk.com/group-chats-rule-the-world/

twitter's sins: twitter committed many sins that hurt their ability to grow - maybe more so than the popular narratives. One particular problem was the high Gini coefficient where (a) certain people on the platform had huge followings (e.g being on the suggested list) (b) the algo rewarded them with more followers
