I am disappointed in the Apple Airpods. As a consumer, I assume that Apple is at the front of the pack when it comes to hardware and software in their chosen products. They are so selective about what they release and charge a premium, so I usually buy without thinking. I assumed that background noise on calls was not a solved problem, and that Airpods were the best solution on the market. Boy was I wrong. The Meta Raybans have incredible background noise cancelling that is significantly better than what Airpods offer. It is so much better that it makes me mad as a consumer. The only problem with the Raybans is that you can't wear them at night, at the gym, etc. Next time I need new headphones I won't be blindly reaching for Airpods again. They've lost my trust.

if you haven't tried voice isolation mode, you might be surprised at how much better phone calls on AirPods can be... I was shocked that it isn't just the default https://support.apple.com/en-us/101993

was on the market for over ear noice cancelling headphones and sony mx4 released in 2020 is still by far the best choice very odd, all other consumer tech i buy is from apple

I love my Meta Raybans too, but I think it's a bit of a unfair comparison because the Ray-Bans have a 5 microphone array that's closer to your mouth, so they can do beamforming to isolate all other noise...Air Pods on your ears don't have the same geometry to localize on your mouth.

Hey Phil, are you using the new AirPods Gen 4 or the older AirPods Pro Gen 2? I use both, and honestly, the noise cancellation on the Pro Gen 2 is way better.

I wear Jabra telemarketer with a mic on my mouth for calls where ambient is noisy and i want to be safe on my side

Are they the pro airpods? I have those and bought them a year ago and love them. Background noise is cut out when I'm on a call too. Just tested that last week. Only problem I had with them is when I try to use duolingo and speak some phrases in the quizzes and it doesn't hear me AT ALL. Which is weird as any other app works fine with them. I can hear duolingo, but it doesn't register input when I'm on my computer. Didn't try with phone.

Meta Raybans are awful in noisy environments. How can they even compete as they don’t get in your ears but just near them? Owner of both AirPods and meta raybans and AirPods are way way ahead. Not even talking about latest generation AirPods with anc
