A leather jacket over a dress – because sometimes you’ve got to bring a little edge to the table. Toughen up that pretty dress with some badass leather.

Today’s earthquake in Delhi had its epicenter just 3 km from my place. For the first time in my life, I not only felt the tremors but also heard the deep rumbling sound of the earthquake. It was a truly scary experience.

Alas, in the 2+ years since, the vast majority in crypto have pivoted sharply towards full on greed, degeneracy, nihilism, and crime. Of course, there's a small minority that continues working on useful sustainability, and I have the utmost respect for them, but that keeps getting smaller by the day.

... * Security (see also: https://verified-zkevm.org , which @alexanderlhicks has done a lot to get to its current state) * Fully verifying light clients that can work on even the smallest devices * Quantum-resistance (BTW this item is also one of the big reasons why "no AA, just keep EOAs + 7702" is NOT a valid option for ethereum long-term, we have to actually abstract the verification function as well, eg. see EIP-7701) The beam chain roadmap delivers on all of these items. It is a necessary complement to all of the important short-term work that we need to get done. And in addition to the beam chain, @drakefjustin has been invaluable in helping the verified-zkevm team spin up, as well as all kinds of other cryptography and ZK initiatives. We have excellent researchers and I am very proud of them. (And also excellent non-researchers) https://x.com/fede_intern/status/1884764387006705898

One strange lesson I've learned as a founder is importance of distinguishing "good pain" from "dumb pain" – aka when to lean into hard things vs when to try something else. Tier 0: run from all pain Tier 1: ignore pain Tier 2: embrace good pain, avoid dumb pain

As promised, here are takeways @ted's conversation on how to build lasting communities + the actions i want to take based on those insights: 1. "Community as a building" (analogy) A community is like a building full of neighbors who add value to each other, build relationships, meet frequently, and share a purpose. Your product is the building; your job is shaping the common areas. The best community design? Getting out of the way so your users can do fun stuff together
