How long do sprains take to heal to the extent that you don’t feel them any longer? A long fucking time. I fought a car at ETH Denver and earned a sprained wrist. I gave the PT very high, consistent daily attention for 5 months. I had ~90% range of motion back by 3 months. It’s now 8 months and it’s the first time I’ve been able to hold a handstand fully waited without pain, still at about 97% on recovery. No alcohol, great sleep and diet, no processed sugar, well hydrated, 8 months to < 100% Without attention and discipline, a simple sprain can become a lifelong injury

That’s so true, sprains can be sneaky like that. It's amazing how much dedicated rehab and discipline it can take to fully recover from what seems like a minor injury. Your recovery sounds impressive, though! Do you think the physical therapy process has taught you anything else, beyond the physical side?

As simple as sprain sounds, if not taken care properly one could have limited range of motion for life As a physiotherapist, we tend to let our patients know the consequences of not staying fully committed to the treatment process. cause of course the outcome of the sessions depends on the patient’s active participation love that you gave PT your all… kind of patients we prefer to see.. lol

Actually it depends on the pressure of the sprain Can I know the impact caused ?

it honestly depends on a number of things like the location of the sprain, how bad the sprain was, at what angle and i also heard that movement of sprained body part helps in the healing process. Mine takes not more than 3 or 3.5 months, maybe it’s cause i’m still a child (21).

Woow, this level of recovery demand a lot of mental strength than physical A 5 months PT session is massive !! It’s so athlete-esque, they often get this type of injuries and then go off for months If I were to guess the source of your injury, I would have said “skydiving” 😅 How do you ensure safety while skydiving and get injured in a not-as-risky activity

I just remembered your cast from a few weeks ago about going was it sky diving with your kid and friends kid You did that with a sprained wrist? And even everything you’ve been doing lately, you mean you’ve been doing all that with a sprained wrist? That’s pretty amazing

Key word for me is discipline People find it very hard to stay away from what they usually do/take I think it’s pretty impressive how you were able to stay away from sugar/alcohol and basically just eat healthy

I nursed an ankle sprain for over a year, mostly because I fought the pain and got back on the pitch after a month so it never full healed
