I personally think that X and Earn is a better model than X to earn. If you want to do sth. for the sake of it you are intrinsically motivated, if you then get retro-actively rewarded for it, you just might do more of it. We'll never avoid gaming the system completely, but at least that would be a genuine shot

yes. these applications need to come with intrinsic motivation factors outside of solely economic incentive. games have to be fun to play, sleep has to be a health priority for folks, etc.

I always have mixed feelings on this system. Inherently works so well to attract initial users. It’s been hard to see a continuous flywheel effect overtime with payments. I think systems and tokenomics def improving and we’re getting there.

Actually wrote a long-ass blog post about this very topic 2 years. you bring up an interesting point of combining normal activities with crypto incentives. Wdyt are learnings from some early attempts here StepN , Axie- they attracted essentially speculators & crashed. Think the " earn " part has to be much more nuanced here - appealing to true fans & redeemable inside the ecosystem.
