From the vault:
2018 summer tour, I saw D&C 8 times.
At Alpine, I had the fortune of running into Bob Weir in the parking lot.
I moved my rental car closer to my room at the hotel (itโs a huge place).
I got out of my car, took my backpack out of my trunk and out of the corner of my eye, I see Bob walking towards me.
I squint, rub my eyes and say, โBob??โ
He looks at me and says humbly, โWell, hey there.โ
I say, โBob, youโre my favorite person alive and number one on my bucket list of people to meet. Iโm such a huge fan, can I give you a hug??โ
He says, โwell, ok I guessโ and chuckles.
I give him a hug and say โthanks again for everything youโve done. You have made an impact on my life more than youโd know and itโs my goal to keep this going for my generation..."
He agrees, he says โthanks,' and he continues on his journey to the spa at the hotel (I think).
I couldnโt physically stand after giving him a hug; I was trembling/shaking from meeting the number 1 person on my bucket list.
There were a couple other DeadHeads in the parking lot who saw what went down and they came over to me, asking if I was ok, asking where he was going next...
I was amazed at how humble he was throughout my quick interaction with him. Although we exchanged very few words, I felt something spiritual and religious which flipped my whole understanding of the Grateful Dead.
