I need to start a blog. Substack? What's the most strategic choice for solid distribution?

This is going to sound stupid but... LinkedIn is where you're most likely to get the most engagement/reach

- Ghost if you want to own everything - Medium if you want the built-in community - Paragraph if you want crypto functionality

If its just for personal blogging, Substack is the easiest. Paragraph is getting better, if you want NFTs. Medium is irritating. If it's for a business, keep the blog on your website, so attention stays there. If you're trying to use and ENS, I recommend working with a developer, or using Fleek+Github, which kinda defeats the purpose of using IPFS. (planning on getting a blog out about this, bc it's asked frequently)

Imo it might depend on your goals and target audience. If your goal is distribution then the platform only matters if your target audience is there. Otherwise any platform or website framework can work great if you follow good SEO practices. Where you share posts usually makes the most difference when it comes to distribution. My most popular personal blog post went viral because: - Shared on X where it targeted a lot of Devs - Tagged the software company I was using and they reposted it which also gave it a boost - I put a lot of work and thought into the post which in the end is the most important thing you can do. Good content will breed SEO and attention.

FWIW I don't use LinkedIn as it's just a nag and brag forum and I don't want a public profile based on being performative within their dynamics; same as ex, fb, etc. All my favourite pods and people are on substack, but with all these things they are just the where - YOU have to have your own marketing plan to get people there (and so maybe LinkedIn as part of that).

I’m gonna go with Substack too. Recently switched over to it to publish our Starknet article, now that I’m off Twitter I’m gonna write more https://open.substack.com/pub/auditless/p/starknet-ethereums-dreadnought-is?r=28vgb&utm_medium=ios

If you care about crypto wallets (wallet subscriptions, distributing via NFTs your content) = @paragraph If you want to discover a new audience, eventually a premium subscription and ease of use (takes time but works) = Substack If you want to focus on growth (paid ads), automating your content and have different revenue streams (Web 2) = Beehiiv I don't recommend Medium Other options to explore (I think the first 3 are better) Kit / Ghost

Paragraph. We have § @colin here. Publishing really depends on the community you want to reach, my type of articles do best on LinkedIn.
