I have a pretty high tolerance for edgy humor as well as controversy and confrontation but Twitter/X has become an absolute cesspool since Elon Musk took over. The platform is almost like another Stormfront at this point and is full of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, sexism, homophobia and all manner of insipid and hateful commentary masquerading as wisdom. For all the faults that Twitter had before it has become magnitudes more unpleasant and chaotic. Part of my attraction for Farcaster is the idea of finding a “frontier” where new community can be built on a more solid basis and the mistakes of the past can be avoided. So far I have appreciated the positive attitudes and interactions of people I have encountered and think it shows promise for building a more socially and politically beneficial platform for discourse. https://x.com/sohrabahmari/status/1810612672733327709?s=46

I appreciate Elon's push for free speech, but the For You feed is just feeding me a lot more racist/sexist/homophobic content in the last 3 months. Explanation is probably simple - they're optimizing for time spent, and when i see shocking content, i often tap in even if i dislike it just to look at it.

One big difference is Warpcast != Farcaster. So if someone doesn’t like the algorithmic choices here , they can build another client of their own. Something impossible with any web2 platform.

I've recently been suspended every few hours over the past 14 days - It's pretty bad as I'm barely posting anything. Something is seriously screwed there - I'm even suspended there right now! But you're right, it is just messy. I like the calm of FC - It's like going to a cool side event where people are positive, encouraging and happy to be here away from the madness of the city outside the doors.

Many people on Twitter thrive on negativity and approach creativity and originality with envy and hatred. Especially envy makes it impossible to learn something from someone and build something creative from it, leading to attacks on bonds as well. I love how Warpcast fosters admiration and appreciation among its users, encouraging people to inspire each other and promote mutual encouragement.

This is why we came here. For some especially women, we are being assaulted daily there, and the hate is absolutely abhorrent. It’s beyond a dead mall now, its more like the underbelly of the beast.

I agree partially. With size, the same issues will need to be addressed, content moderation is a huge pain any relevant platform will need to deal with. The problems we encounter in X are also a consequence of incentivizing volume over quality, daily active users, etc. In this sense, Warpcast is the exact same thing. Looking for more casts/posts per user, looking for you to come back every day (streaks), etc.
