walk-and-talk about the difficulty of waking the line between intelligence and sophistication in one’s walk-and-talks lest one be labeled less of a socarates and more of a sophist https://zora.co/coin/base:0x476bf7ad4783447a5e942833f2a7f9f93fc451f0?referrer=0x52da438ebc256c23fec296d86c0db0b249fd188d

the walk-and-talk would a perfect signature media format for farcaster. farcaster could be the world’s first peripatetic platform. and you have a clear roadmap…building native captioning. farcaps. they could have cool branded emoji. farcaster could be the platform for those who walk the talk and talk while they walk. walk far, cast father! plus ai can’t creat peripateticontent. yet. so walk n talks are proof of authenticity humanity. https://youtu.be/fGqdIPer-ms?si=8OhJ0-XPRF7Lgc8h

but Mark fortunately in your case the data "loss" is just a rendering issue in warpcast. they used to upload all image uploads to imgur and link it in the casts - which has changed since, and now their rendering of old imgur links is broken (?) you can see what the cast looks like under the hood here: https://explorer.neynar.com/0xda121d738c3515cbccd5abcb88b6f2f89d03294b and then if you go to that imgur link you'll see it's still there if your storage units had expire you would have lost that data forever unless someone archived it for you

oh wow, you’re so right! but can’t they go back and fix that so i don’t have to click through a bunch of weird webpages and end up on a spammy imgur page. quantum super funny that the first post i resurrected was an INTREPID riff on the japanese concept of impermanence mono no aware (物の哀れ), translated as sensitivity to ephemera is a Japanese idiom for the awareness of impermanence (無常, mujō),

Data loss is a violation of user trust. Local backup is so much more than nice‑to‑have—it’s a essential trust feature. I learned the hard way when my early FC Intrepid‑day photo puns vanished. We need the ability to keep our own archive so we can republish in one tap. (Or some sort of other native and easy way to auto-renew backup function. Some way of making sure data loss is highly improbable. I didn’t even know where the data and storage tab was on FC before it was pointed out to me.) Big thanks to @stephancill for surfacing this to the farcaster community.

farcaster clients should locally replicate all of the logged in user's messages and sync it to icloud so that if they don't pay for storage and their data gets pruned the app can just prompt them to pay and republish all their data from the backup

Absolutely! Sounds like a good plan : I’m the cofounder of EmpireBuilder /glanker which helps creators/builders/founders go from Dream to Empire with our v1 token tool stack & launcher (as a Clankers interface) + resources Really happy to have a number of artists, devs, memecoins, & projects testing & using it 🫡 EmpireBuilder.world But for now… bedtime 😉 Thanks for the framework concept and GN!

glad to hear it! i’m really looking forward to open-sourcing more of this thinking and getting it into the hands of builders doing the most good. right now, only big, vc or well-funded orgs can usually afford this kind of work—and that’s def not the spirit of decentralization. if you’re a small builder and just want to bounce ideas around on how to architect a compelling relatable, authentic peer-to-peer promise, i’d be happy to help!

i think a walk and talk solves all doubt re ai of not ai. i’m sympathetic to this, but it’s so hard to tell whether one is is pouncing on a big ol altruisticatfish! which picture do you prefer? this is a altuisricatfish captcha of sorts.

I love this conclusion. Before you achieve/get/find product market fit you need to make a promise to your users and your product ends up being the medium through which you deliver the promise. I think figuring out what that promise is is something that founders tend to skip over, especially if they start from the technology side. And critically that prevents people from relating to them and their products

Apurv, always slicing to the core! Fair point..i can def drift into philosophical fancyness du temps en temps. But here’s my take on the distinction: Community is the all-important recipient of the peer-to-peer human, relatable conceptual promise, not the architect of it. In this age of intangible digital first brands, what matters first is the peer-to-peer promise—the relational thread between founder, founding team, founding community of early adopters (e.g., @j4ck.eth and @stephancill)…the promise being made to the community. The community doesn’t define the peer-to-peer promise; they affirm it and evangelize for it (or reject it and stay mum). But a peer-to-peer promise that’s always already being dynamically made. Watch the vid for more fancyness…and my pawfect pitch for Furcaster.

sure thing! you’re def going to get there! your dream is even closer than it seems! the only reason i didn’t donate more was my concern that you were some sort of ai account…. know how to correct that perception?! a walk and talk video! the WalkFarCastFarther initiative…promulgates the walk and talk as the new new community approved farcaster media format. @ted
