Re: "why don't you hire someone to do X" comments for Bountycaster, in my opinion: - being resource constrained with 2 people forces us to work on the highest priority items. Easy to fall into having people work on random stuff just because you can - hiring more people creates more work too (recruiting, managing, etc) - we're bootstrapped, hiring people requires more funding. This is also more work and changes dynamics (fundraising, managing investors, etc) - we want our team size / burn to be in line with the market opportunity right now and we don't feel it's justified yet to hire more - one of the highest ROI things a founder can be doing early on is being constantly in touch with users, not something I want to be delegating away at our stage

Bountycaster on X would be a next level stuff for them though I would say an intern would be nice to control and increase the demand in bountycaster but your choice For me, whilst being on here, it still took some time before i got to know about bountycaster. Marketing sounds like something much needed for an amazing tool like this, especially in the jobs section

Exactly, the moment you hire beyond your founding group you add HR, management, and additional fundraising to your task list each day. That's a huge drag on your productivity, especially at the early stages. You need to be generating enough profit to absorb that, let alone the risk of it being a bad hire, which can destroy the company this early in its lifecycle. Keep truckin Linda. 💛

It seems so obvious but I’ve noticed people who don’t spend time learning to design/ code / write copy/ make videos and are simply planning in google docs all day tend to favor delegating. I have yet to find a successful 0-1 founder who’s a planner.

How about a part-time social media manager paid in USDC or crypto? It could be a weekly thing. With Bountycaster's visibility, someone could handle comments and funnel them to you devs

Really think the last point can’t be stressed enough. It keeps decision making grounded with an awareness of the pulse of your customers.

i respect your opinions. i'm no founder just a student. but i agree with everything, it may seem tedious right now but that's an important stage in growth. getting in touch with users, interactions with your community. the best way to grow and quick, in the long run of course you'll need to hire more people but now's not the right time.

We have a gift shop, and it is very important point you mentioned at the end "one of the highest ROI things a founder can be doing early on is being constantly in touch with users(costumers in our case), not something I want to be delegating away at our stage" and for the time being we are not considering hiring any employee

I agree. It's a 2-way benefit to talk to the customers directly in an early stage. Also, hiring for the objective of making something easier often ends up more complicated. Better find a fundamental solution than cover it up with a hire.

Always preferred smaller teams because they’re flexible, sustainable and motivated. They communicate better and make faster decisions. During the pandemic my business survived because we were able to manage costs and adapt quickly.

At the early stage where you can handle it then it's still ok. But at one point where more and more daily/repeated work come and take too much of your time, probably it's time to get more people. So founder can have more time to think, plan and focus on more important stuff.
