While everyone is sharing their lovely Christmas trees and treats, I bring a dish that might not be photogenic, but definitely puts me in the festive mood. This is satsivi, a Georgian dish that in its appearance and composition is similar to the infamous mole - also chicken drowning in sauce, but here the sauce is made from walnuts and a blend of Georgian spices, most prominently fenugreek and coriander. When I was a kid my mom used to always make satsivi to celebrate New Year, it was the one treat she anticipated the most. And I didn't get the appeal, I thought it was kind of gross and boring. But then a couple years ago something clicked in my brain and I also started craving the taste of satsivi (maybe it's genetic) πŸ˜… So I couldn't wait till New Year and made a batch just for myself. Damn, is it good 🀀 Do you have a similar story with any holiday foods?

This is a similar recipe to what I did, except for the cinnamon: https://nofrillskitchen.com/satsivi-recipe/

My mom always used to make baklava - I have no idea where she got the recipe, but no one else ever made it (probably because it required so much effort, time, and expensive nuts). It’s even not like Turkish one It always looked beautiful, but I wasn’t really a fan of the taste (as a kid, any dessert without chocolate felt like a lie to me) Now that I live far away from her, I suddenly found myself craving that baklava. Like most mom recipes, hers was something like, β€˜a bit of this, a bit of that, just eyeball it.’ So I had to search for the recipe myself, and when I finally found it, the taste instantly brought me back to my childhood
