On the advice of friends, I gave a chance to the series "The Cleaner. The Story of a Single Mother", the rating of which on Kinopoisk is very convincing - 7,8. At the center of the narrative is Alex, a young woman fleeing abusive relationships and desperately trying to create a safe future for herself and her daughter, Maddie. The series raises important and relevant themes such as domestic violence, poverty, mental health and the need for support in the community.
When I started watching, I expected to see a story of struggle, triumph and overcoming. I wanted to be inspired by a strong heroine who succeeds against all odds. Unfortunately, my hopes were not realized. Alex, on the contrary, commits impulsive, rash acts that only make her situation worse. Personally, this became a disappointment for me. I need to admire the main character, to find in him an example to follow, and here I never realized what I was watching it for.
