While everyone is sharing their lovely Christmas trees and treats, I bring a dish that might not be photogenic, but definitely puts me in the festive mood. This is satsivi, a Georgian dish that in its appearance and composition is similar to the infamous mole - also chicken drowning in sauce, but here the sauce is made from walnuts and a blend of Georgian spices, most prominently fenugreek and coriander. When I was a kid my mom used to always make satsivi to celebrate New Year, it was the one treat she anticipated the most. And I didn't get the appeal, I thought it was kind of gross and boring. But then a couple years ago something clicked in my brain and I also started craving the taste of satsivi (maybe it's genetic) š So I couldn't wait till New Year and made a batch just for myself. Damn, is it good š¤¤ Do you have a similar story with any holiday foods?
