I also believe most of the tech guys will ditch RFK’s ideas once we start getting into implementation details. Who exactly is enforcing all these rules on food companies about additives/ultra processed foods that are core to the platform? The 3 letter agencies this group crows constantly about getting rid of and say overreach? Who decides what is good and bad? Are you prepared to lose your right to make unhealthy choices? Or be forced to exercise? Exercise mandates a la seatbelt law? It’s easy to be “for health” in the abstract. Less easy to think of solutions that follow our liberal traditions.

Until they start paying for all of my healthcare, I don't want to hear a word from them about my health.

I’m not even in your country but as a chronically sick person this irritates me no end. Who in their right mind would believe this is even possible let alone their actual intention.

We’ll fwiw Kennedy has multiple videos where he doesn’t wear a seatbelt. I’m actually totally okay with the pivot. Kennedy’s campaign has never had a chance from the start, so whatever route continues to create some space for his ideas to be discussed more broadly is good long term. We are so far from a direction headed toward health for many Americans, and ultimately it’s why I see universal health care on the “ballot” as an issue in 28 or 32. It will come from a concern on fiscal implications of the current model. Will need to address long term costs of health care, and change the direct relationship between health care and employment.

I think i get your point, Kat And tbh it’s important for em to strike a balance between promoting public health and protecting individual freedoms But do you think a middle ground can be found, that promotes public health while also respecting individual freedoms?

It starts with food production, right now the US subsidizes monocrops like corn while they could subsidize better farming practices that use less pesticides and grow more nutricious food

“Are you prepared to lose your right to unhealthy decisions”, “who decides what’s good and what’s bad for you ?” I think these questions would go down as the most trivial questions of the century If tables were to switch and you were in the position to make these decisions, would you allow consumption of these potentially addictive, medically unhealthy substances?

I get your point , Balancing safety with choice involves finding ways to encourage healthy behaviors without mandating them, like through education and incentives rather than strict enforcement. How do you think we can effectively encourage healthier choices without imposing strict mandates that could infringe on personal freedoms?

I hear you on the nanny state and not wanting the government in your health care. It's pretty obvious that the US has a giant health problem tied to it's current food supply. In some ways sugar is as bad as alcohol or nicotine and we are giving it to children in massive doses. We regulate these other substances that cause massive health issues, is it so unrealistic that we change the collective pallet away from this unhealthy norm to something slightly more sustainable?

Ultimately, the goal should be to find a balance between both tbh, what do you mean by "liberal traditions" in this context? Are you referring to a specific set of values or principles
