i don’t get it, why do I hear all the time from people who hire that it’s difficult to find employees while people without jobs saying there are no jobs?

Difficult to find employees willing to be underpaid. Difficult to find jobs that are paying enough. 🤷‍♂️

I tried to write a response to this but it’s honestly so disheartening. I think the whole job market is super dehumanizing right now.

As an employer I can tell that our economy is f*cked here in Canada. You cannot afford to pay more, but your employees cannot survive on what you are ready to pay.

asymetry of info from both sides, neither knowing how to be candid and open about expectations. AI doesn't help with this relationship. the eternal tug of war. What do you think?

Blame the algorithms for the mismatch. Yes dehumanizing because it’s all about data.

There’s a gap, unrealistic expectations as well, especially on the side of people hiring. Hirers want a “swiss army knife” employee with 50 years of experience. Humans are considered numbers because money is involved and there’s really not consideration of person/tenacity. I saw a post recently on “dropping sacks from the team”, and the moment you consider someone a sack, you are a part of the problem.
