Doing the same things over and over again, ritualistically makes life go faster it seems. Doing things that are new makes life feel like it goes slower Yet by putting yourself in a position where you are constantly doing new things over and over again - it puts you back again, where you started - doing the same (new) things over and over again

Reminds me of how Anthony Bourdain got so bored (or so he says) after awhile about the same old nice Michelin star restaurant and the same new exciting city to land in. There’s something to be said, without the mundane; there is no explanation of experiences filled with awe

faster you go quicker you die. ask mice and whales. in a culture of shipping shipping shipping some strategic hunting would go a long way, but people won’t appreciate til they taste defeat

My "shortcut" is to stay present - then it doesn't matter the actual experience. You are experiencing it inwardly, vs being pulled into wheel of maya and getting lost in it.

For me, everyday is different because I live with chronic pain and never know what I’m going to wake up to and how I’ll need to pivot. I can’t make plans because they most likely will be changed depending on what my body does. I’ve learnt to enjoy the tiniest pleasures because of this and let go and live with the mundane moments that the pain creates. Everyday is different yet also very much the same.

it’s quite the contrary for me, when i do the same things over and over again, it feels like time goes by slowly but time only seem to go fast when i switch it up

“it puts you back again, where you started” — Funny how life has so many ways to get us dissatisfied and itching to change things up. In this case, you work hard to escape mundanity, eventually you want to return to it, but after a while want to escape it again. There simply is no set it and forget it.

The Gita says that men of discipline are able to find Krishna the same as men of philosophy. A simple carpenter ritualistically refining his craft day after day, year after year, can find himself in the same place as someone continually seeking that higher truth.

I distinguish between rituals that I call practical, from those that I would define as pleasurable. Strangely, those that give me pleasure are those that bore me most quickly, those that I give up most easily to make room for new rituals that will bore me sooner or later. I have tried meditation in the past but my weak willpower has always been defeated, with time I have discovered that in the end it is the eternal struggle between yes and no. Not being able to meditate is the result of the deception that our mind produces on ourselves. At least I have come to a conclusion.

Would like your viewpoint sometime - why do humans exist? What purpose do we serve to the universe? My take - it’s a long story if you’re interested

I so much agree with this It is said that the things that bring about the best changes starts off by making you feel like you’re regressing Exercising makes you feel weak, when it’s actually strengthening you Reading makes you feel dumb when it’s actually enlightening you That’s just how it is

Personally, I feel doing new things makes time go faster because it’s fresh and you’re so focused on that “new” thing, but when it comes to the old things, you’re used to the pattern and time gradually becomes slower as you go on
