Trust is something you give to others — forgiveness is something you give to yourself. You don’t need to trust someone again to forgive them. One is about rebuilding a bridge; the other is about not carrying the weight.

Yes 100% But it’s kinda like having your boyfriend say he doesn’t want to have sex until marriage for moral reasons and then you get married and find out he has a micro penis. But yes, forgiveness is always best However, doesn’t mean you need to trust them again 🥲

Always forgive. Never forget. Rebuilding trust under real name and pretense. Woulda shoulda gone a long way. Anon breeds. Rug it until it works then try to pivot. (Here’s the pivot!)

Absolutely. Forgiveness is given because we extend grace, not because they deserve it, but because if we hold on to the anger, it breeds contempt, eventually damaging us & our character. Forgive, but don't forget. You don't have to place trust in them...but it's important to let go for our own sanity/peace of mind and mental health. I know many people who can't seem to let go of past trauma and the ways they've been violated....It tears them up, they tend to become bitter because they constantly relive the experience by holding on to it. I say, forgive often. Learn from the experience. It makes us better people.

I’m reminded of the saying forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. Those who were wronged or lied to can find forgiveness…and hopefully still know not to be so quick to bestow trust again.
