What does “here” mean? (If only a handful of people talk to your posts when you’re cross posting, your engagement goes up even tho you aren’t around) Engagement gives the illusion of a person being here, because they’re engaged. Which means people aren’t truly here. If it counts as DAU (I can’t say I would be surprised) then where are we?

Counts as DAU if they open the app. There are many problems to solve. Need to start with supply.

second-order question: does their content landing in FC increase DAU? increase quality or quantity of discourse? increase retention? i think it's less important to me that FC has the original content and more about whether the content that makes it to FC is engaged with. eg. news outlets aren't posting to FC, but links to news articles still have a positive impact. i don't totally love the "pandering to X" aspect here, but when i step back i view this the same way.

I would say there's no binary answer to that question. Are they "here" in the sense that their posts influence thought? Yes - but I would ask if their number is significant in proportion to total number of influential "native" accounts. I'd be more interested in the questions of "are they 'here' consensually?" - "where does their content appear?" - "how are they compensated? (what's the value proposition from their perspective?" 500 $farther and 50 $DEGEN for a thought-provoking question!
