Cherry blossoms that are early and late at the same time. How so? I cut them and put in a vase on December 4th. They would traditionally open 3 weeks later on Christmas. But our early winter was too warm so they are opening only now. Late for inside, early for outside.

When I joined I was told I had to be a "reply guy". I went right into hunting gems from new and not popular people to reply to. Turns out wc had just introduced new algos and their infamous power badge. The algo did not like what I was doing. ๐Ÿ˜†

Art has intrinsic value. NFTs are an historical innovation allowing ownership of digital art. I believe memes also have value, but since coins are fungible, it dilutes the meme power. I haven't seen much innovation (yet?) in this cycle. Feels like web3 is devolving frankly.

We only "need" patents because we don't have a better way to compensate research labor. Same with copyright, which is supposed to compensate creative labor. In both cases, this imposed artificial scarcity harms us. Open access means literal lives saved, and a livelier cultural scene. Public goods makes us all richer.

Work in progress. Digging old digital files and giving them a new life. This was supposed to be just a test for another, completely different work in progress. But it's spinning a story of its own...

Slop Ring Aggressive Deboosting incoming, be prepared! I wonder if the team is cooking smarter algos these days, or if legit artists might become once again caught in a wide net meant for curbing bad actors?

What are your favorite /regen projects taking part in this @giveth round? Starting my round of donations ๐Ÿ„ ๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿค‘ I still have a bit left in my @glodollar budget. Donations might be small, but I'm counting on the quadratic magic to multiply them!

"the topics that get shut down, they tend to be important." Is anyone building a way to mint quotes from casts? I don't want to mint the whole cast, just a selected quote. @paragraph has this feature for articles published there and I love it.

Giving to others feels great. It should not be the only goal, just as thinking only of yourself is not a good goal choice. Why? It might look like it will make you richer, but generosity unlocks next level rewards, including monetary ones. This (de)generosity economy is a brilliant innovation in my view.

The incentives game is hard to play. It feels often like a cat & mouse (or a hedgehog and crawlies) chase: 1. The team identifies good valuable actions that people are intrinsically motivated to do, and makes them their "new" criteria for allo. For a few days this works, but... 2. Immediately, farmers start doing a lot of that in the most superficial (aka "efficient") way, just to get their hands on free money. The valuable actions of real people are more complex, but not as "efficient" in just fulfilling a simple criteria to get money. Their allo lowers fast. 3. Result: Most of the monthly airdrop allo ends up going to farmers. This repeats next month, with similar bad results. How to escape from this self-defeating prophecy?

Someone casts quality content (art people like and tip). They are apparently also a farmer (whatever that means). People who enjoyed that quality art content get all their tips invalidated. At least Jacek seems to listen and act promptly instead of pretending their anti-farming tools are infallible, like the EEE.

Apparently 91% of Farcaster users are currently labeled as spammy ๐Ÿ‘€ If you're up for changing how you cast in an attempt to "upgrade" your label to non-spammy, check this article:

I've contributed over 0.75 ETH to public goods via @octant But none came directly from my pocket. I locked a small amount of their token a while ago. It got multiplied almost 600x! ๐Ÿ‘€
