Smart Wallets only serve people who have never used crypto They don't serve 99% of people who have been onchain before and are active onchain daily or weekly If we want Smart Wallets to get adopted then we should make them work for the people that are actually active onchain

My impression- Smart wallets - smart phones Trad wallets - desktops Most people don't need desktops for shopping, emailing, social messaging etc smart phones can do that. Same I think smart wallets are gonna be enough for new users but not for ones who are deep into the ecosystem.

Ever widening gulf bw ppl who are used to (and want to continue using) self-custody and the "kill seed phrases" crowd Suspect self-custody will become the chain power users a là algo exploiters on social

I’m actually here with you. Apart from a very narrow set of use cases I prefer to use my “public” wallet. No chance I’m sending funds between wallets just to try an app that is gated to smart wallets

So far smart wallet just == passkeys signer but they're so much more They unlock a whole world of use cases for people already onchain including: DCAing, subscriptions, zkEmail recovery, key rotation / native multisigs, automated defi strategies, and more 🔜

I don’t think we want smart wallets to get adopted. We want people to find something valuable to do onchain. Smart wallets is just a tool. If we find something valuable to do onchain ,smart wallets will help onboard the non crypto people. But we gotta find something valuable to do.

semi agree but there is value in starting over. weve gotten used to everything we do onchain being transparent but SWs will allow aa and zk use cases. noobs will want private txs and most of us prob will too

eip7702 (eip7702.io) and account migration solves this, but it will take a while for now improving the life of new users is a huge win nevertheless

I think smart wallets are very important for getting someone started or close to starting to use crypto quickly and without worrying about a seedphrase or private key. It is well understood that many avoid crypto because of securing keys. Crypto natives will know to use multisigs or something more secure.

In order to not lose history, the next move is building out your wallets together and can bring them together wherever you go. Zapper is way ahead on this with farcaster integrations: https://zapper.xyz/farcaster/21024
