1995-1996 Seniors year in HS. Had a car and a crew and would catch shows at First Ave and 7th Street Entry in MPLS on the regular. Rev105 and Radio K in their heyday. All age shows on the regular. Soul Coughing, Fugazi, Jawbox, Everclear, Walt Mink, Quicksand, Arcwelder, Supernova. So many great live shows.

I don’t know about genre, but anything I (at that age) perceived as dark and disturbing. For example, Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, NIN. Anything that had a dark edge to it.

Canadian indie rock (like Metric) which gave way to other independent artists (like Drake, and even US-based Macklemore). I was inspired how they fought for their own audiences and succeeded in an industry controlled by publishers. I fight to do the same in software startups.

gm, I’m a Deadhead. In the 70’s I’d hitchhike to a show. I didn’t have a ticket, food, drugs, a date or place to crash. I always ended up with a ticket, food, drugs, date(s), a place to crash. Go on adventures. Seek poverty. Be cool and kind. You’ll end up with riches beyond your imagination.
