I've never admitted this publicly but I've never listened to a podcast. I've heard snippets, saw clips, but never heard one from beginning to end. I've always been suspicious of them and their effect on discourse. Anyone else feels the same?

Can't say the same. I consume 10+ hours a week of podcasts for all the in-between moments.

I’ve listened to a few here and there but if I’m gonna spend that much time with a piece of media it better be a killer album all the way thru

That’s wild! I listen to tons of podcasts. I started just by getting some of my favorite public radio shows as podcasts. Are you a radio listener? Maybe audio just isn’t your medium?

There's very few podcasts I listen to, unless there's no other way to obtain the information I want. I make an exception for comedy podcasts that can be on in the background, but that has more of a feel of an improv show than a typical podcast structure. I've even been on podcasts, so I have no hate for them — I just prefer content as text.

I love podcasts as background conversations while I'm: driving (solo) folding laundry cutting veggies/food prep walking in the woods I never sit down to actively listen, but I've learned so much from podcasts filling in these otherwise empty spaces. I do need to make sure I find time to let my brain sit in silence and wander though

I feel uncomfortable with podcasts. But maybe for different reasons. If I consume a podcast, I could have been listening to an audiobook. I do it still, but the trade off weighs heavier on me than I think it does many others.

I'm with you. I tell people I don't listen to podcasts and they act like I said I don't breathe air. I listen to them occasionally when travelling but regular weekly or daily (!) podcasts just don't work for me.

I couldn't initially relate to podcasts; when I was younger, I got bored within the first five minutes. However, they have become an integral part of my life. These days, I listen to at least four podcasts a week. It's a great way to stay updated on the latest information without much hassle.

Interesting…Curious, as we see the pace of podcasts rising rapidly, where do you prefer to consume your information outside of traditional news outlets (digital or paper).

I can't imagine I would understand some things as well as I do without listening to Dwarkesh Patel's podcasts. I love reading and audiobooks, abhor television. I'm curious if you sort of feel the same way about late night television?

I pretty much always skip the first 10-15 minutes of a podcast because it's endless introductions and formalities I don't care about.
