I never want to know too much about music theory otherwise I'll start to overthink what I'm listening to. I know enough about art to be a dangerous midwit. Writing I over-analyze to a fault, but I still have fun with it. Music should remain pure.

If you think too much, you should write. It doesn't particularly matter what you write about. The act of expelling whats inside you and casting it onto a piece of paper helps fix the discord in your mind.

Writing tip, when you're describing something and want to find a more specific word, search for the generic form of that thing + "diagram." If you want to know the technical name for the parts of a plane or electronic device, this is the easiest way.

I feel my ability to read returning to me now that I'm nearly finished moving out of my old place. I've almost finished this book too. It's a great read and a historical perspective.

There are so many pitfalls outside of simply mastering a craft. It's not good enough to be the best at what you do, you also have to be 'good enough' at everything else.

Only bring 1 book with you if you're going someplace. If you bring more than one you will waste all your time trying to decide which one to read. Eventually, your phone breaks the tie.

If I could make one suggestion for writers on Paragraph, turn off the immediate pop-up to subscribe. It's jarring and annoying, and I'm never going to immediately subscribe to someone without reading what they have to say first. The scrolling pop-up as you read is fine, but get rid of the first one.

The spoken word, ideally face-to-face, is the highest form of storytelling. I believe the written word is second best. Everything else is downstream from these 2 because they begin introducing many extra layers of expertise. These extra layers can mask a bad story in other forms of value.

New house is 75% clean and 50% moved in to. This detour has hurt my reading and writing, but soon I shall return.

Every page is a work of art. I love the way text looks. I love how it is formatted. I love the shape of letters and symbols.

Does it count as reading if it's my own WIP I've read 1000 times?

There is always something lost when poetry is translated. But what remains is a different kind of charm.

This is the greatest article that has ever been written about AI Art/Writing because the author actually *understands* how language, words, and communication works. Words are not meaning, they are a vehicle to convey meaning. And art is a matter of an author's *intention* https://www.newyorker.com/culture/the-weekend-essay/why-ai-isnt-going-to-make-art
