What attracted me to Farcaster? I first heard about it from @colin on @sinahab's show. Paragraph was what originally interested me, as their answers to the problems I had with substack were compelling. I then listened to @v talk about Farcaster on the same show (I don't remember much from that talk, it probably went over my head lol). I kept digging. The previous summer I had messed with Mastodon & Fediverse hosting. I thought it was a novel solution, but the result was so many chaotic splinters & fractures it didn't seem like a viable long-term solution. That, and the hosting and maintenance felt very web 2.0. "Sufficiently decentralized" was a concept I could wrap my head around. It was the greatest selling point for me as a non-crypto person, and it was a use for blockchain tech outside of just money-chasing. Plus it reminded me a lot of what I'm trying to do in the creative space: Create open Intellectual Property to share with others. Trustworthy, robust, and financed distribution is needed for this!

If many people don't understand 2nd order consequences, how much less likely is it for the average person to understand the 3rd, 4th, or 5th order consequences of /privacy violations?

A pet peeve of mine is when someone adept at a skill gets upset when they're told they are "talented." "I-It's not talent! I-It's hard work!" Please, shut up and take the compliment. You can be talented and hard working. Calm down.

This is actually the coolest thing. Thanks for sharing. I had heard rumors about this beforehand. I'm wanting to get into EVs but the blackbox spyware approach Tesla takes scares me off.

Probably the funniest propaganda I see pretty much every day is, "Our geopolitical enemy is on the verge of economic collapse! It didn't happen last week, but for sure this week! Or maybe, next week! They're about to fall apart. Believe me, they're super weak." This goes on for years. Every country does it.

@reidtandy @colin I am trying to recover my Paragraph account I made with an email sign-up last year. I've been using Paragraph through the mini app lately, but I want to make sure my Farcaster acc and Paragraph acc are in parity... But the email password reset is not working. No junk, no inbox, etc. And I know it's the correct email because I can't make a new account with that same email. Any suggestions?

I have long believed that Bluesky was doomed to repeat the same failed web 2.0 social media cycle. This is but one more proof I was correct. Great thread, I agree with the analysis.

After being a tech guy for so long, I swing between liking and disliking computers pretty regularly. However, the part of technology I find endlessly fascinating is the User Experience. The very end of the process, the "app layer" or "front end", the final product is what I care a lot about.

I finally got around to watching Jin-Roh. Talk about a movie that absolutely nailed its theme, in more ways than one! I was pleasantly surprised it turned more into a psychological thriller instead of just action for action's sake. And the animation is simply unparalleled, incredible weight and movement to everything.

You're right. I take back my original statement. I was thinking too much in binary. Consensus is a process of the top and bottom coming to an agreement. I do believe the top of the hierarchy more often has greater sway.
