As it stands, a lot of jobs already do this. Reporters are often asked to draft a story as part of the application process -- like an audition tape -- and public relations professionals are often asked to draft sample press strategy memos.

I am often critical of leftists, but I do think they are correct that a class/economics-focused message is a better response to Trump than the hawkish Cold War bromides Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin delivered in response to his speech on Tuesday. At the same time, Bernie is ultimately not the ideal messenger for the national party. The public's appetite for a fairer economy where they're not at the mercy of unscrupulous corporate actors does not necessarily mean they have an appetite for Bernie's more sweeping vision for reform. https://x.com/jacobin/status/1897367238518485276

The Trump administration approach to Israel-Palestine has been hard to make sense of at times. On the one hand, Trump succeeded in getting Netanyahu's ceasefire buy-in where Biden failed. His envoy Steve Witkoff even became a target of neocon/Likud smears. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/steve-witkoff-ceasefire-attacks-israel-qatar_n_67a1aeffe4b09c948561e57c At the same time, Trump has proposed expelling all Gazans to make Gaza a resort enclave, and signaled there will be little, if any, pushback on the far-right settler movement. His administration lifted sanctions on settlers engaged in violence and just welcomed Bezalel Smotrich, the far-right Israeli finance minister, on an official Washington visit for the first time.

Is the Trump administration giving Israel the Ukraine treatment? OK, not quite because, among other things, the U.S. weapons are still flowing. But this move to try to revive ceasefire talks by negotiating with Hamas directly looks a bit like speaking to Russia directly about resolving the Ukraine war. The removal of Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) from Trump's speech to Congress last night was one of the more notable moments in the evening.
