When was the last time you used a hashtag on Twitter? Why or why not?

Chris Messina left a unnecessarily nasty comment on a product of mine someone else hunted on Product Hunt and as such personal grudges cause me to avoid them at all costs

I don't use Twitter but I've used them on LinkedIn as a tag I also feel like they can be used in a fun way, people used to use them as punchlines on Instagram back when it was just your friends #preinfluencerculture

Probably today. For grouping and discoverability. Events are also a good reason. People use it in search so why not facilitate. Especially for niche topics such as poetry.

Uuf. Atleast a year. I donโ€™t even use them on Instagram. The only place I do use them is Roam, and Obsidian. Because they feel sloppy for communicating publicly.

It comes off as desperate and spammy. Kind of wish it wasn't that way though because they could be more useful.

Months ago during the devastating earthquake in Turkey, so people who care about the same topic as I do might see my tweet. So yes for visibility, no for cringeness when people overdo it.

like 2018? millennials all secretly loved hashtags, let's be honest. and then one day we had some cultural awakening - maybe it was the emergence of genz - and begrudgingly accepted that #ThisisNotReallyThatCool
