If we made normal frames more like composer actions (i.e. Telegram-style mini-apps), what would you build that you can't with frames today? The argument against is most people don't want use fully-featured apps in a squished window vs. in a separate app. When frames work well, it's because they are constrained with a clear call to action and meet users in the feed where they are spending time.

Also have never found the in-app browser in a crypto wallet to be a good UX (mostly because the websites don't seem well-optimized for mobile).

I think the Warpcast team could develop a mini-app framework that offers a native user experience and leverages system notification capabilities. WeChat’s miniprogram has already seen huge success. The server component in Expo looks promising for this use case.

Would probably convert any frame with more than 2 steps into a mini app I would personally love it for viewing stories (see composer action vs frame below) I think there’s a place for both modalities https://warpcast.com/stephancill/0xfb8e6f2e https://stories.steer.fun/stories/stephancill

my 2 cents 1. leave frames the way they are, different use cases 2. deep links for composer actions 3. let me initiate a txn from a composer action the same way we can do it from a frame 4. once i can initiate a txn from composer action, make cast actions more like composer actions

my few words from the user side: - I don't want to suffer my feed experience in favor of some long content in the frame that takes many steps and breaks my exploration experience. - I want frames in the feed to be minimal, more acting as a preview of something, easily and quickly navigateable. - I also want frames in the feed that show information more efficiently rather than what the text presentation would. - I also want to know how many frames are left to be seen to finish the desired flow, to better consider wether I want to click through or not. I'll check if it's 3 steps, but will skip if it's 9 steps. - I want to see mini apps in the feed if the CTA is clear, but I definitely don't want to play tetris there. - I want to use social apps that integrate with Warpcast smoothly and have them stashed somewhere for use.

Would definitely build some mini-apps. 👍 Even common crypto actions like swaps, tips, mint, etc would benefit from having an active canvas. The full http call UX limits Frames to basic marketing actions vs true mini-apps that users expect. Mini-app momentum is just getting started and FC should be a major auth/social graph + crypto payment provider. Could be a standard that gets integrated everywhere around the Internet a la Blinks. Which would require a FC account to auth in. 👍 TG makes it easy to package up PWAs into mini-apps. FC could do the same with SIWF and then a crypto tx API.

I think there are still a lot of things we can improve within existing triangle: frames - cast actions - composer actions, and then move towards fully mini-apps approach based on where we are limited! Mainly integration and composability between these, currently it's like 3 separate islands, which are connected in some way, but each in a different way. Happy to share specifics!

> most people don't want to use... most @event activity happens directly in warpcast and the composer action supercharged that. It's a lot easier than going to a separate app. > what would you build one thing I really want to build is an "edit" button on @event frames that pop open the @event composer action so you can edit easily. Really the only thing missing from this today is a static link to open a composer action (e.g. warpcast.com/actions/eventcaster)

I hope to have a frame button that can open the composer action interface. @dwr.eth

If it still enables signing (both crypto wallet and FC-related), I would embrace it. It seems to be working well for Telegram and the way the mini-apps collapse into the bottom, enabling quick access without leaving either experience, is a masterclass in UX design imo. If/when FC has this, it’s a game changer.

I actually like the frame restrictions. It makes it super easy to develop. If the whole frame becomes an iFrame, it will reduce the quality for all embedded posts. So, what improvements I want in the Frame? I want verified actions that can take Farcaster native actions. For example, as a developer, I should be able to create a "Follow" button inside the frame that will automatically make the user a follower of the caster. For example, as a developer, I should be able to send Warps button inside the frame that will automatically tip Warps to the caster. I have more examples, if you want.

Slicker checkout flows, richer content selection / catalogue UIs, more GUI intensive games, maybe easier to incorporate other wallet / aa paymaster infra ? I could see a place for both full blown mini apps and frames constrained form factor To me Farcaster client like WC is also a kind of browser in a sense, with native wallet capability and identity graph. These are like various little bubbles of the web (frames, actions, maybe mini apps, which could themselves even be verticalized FC clients of a kind)

/nook Frames - Leave your own rating/review on a shared nook link - show much more information about the actual content thats being shared in a popup (where to watch / listen / buy) - Assuming audio would work, preview movie/tv show trailers or listen to a song Composer Action: - More advanced "detect content from cast" composer action (can only do so much with 4 buttons and an image) Probably more this is just off the top of my head

yeah, frames shouldn't try to be a mini-browser because that's bad UX abd we're copying not innovating. frames should let you do stuff that's NOT possible otherwise, or do something x10 better by staying within.

livestreaming would be cool, keep form factor the same. allow users to subscribe / emoji react / tip crypto in real time. support vertical aspect ratio. could attract a new set of content creators from IG / TT

Imo the killer feature is it being in feed. Those constraints also make the products more concise.

I agree that fully-featured apps is too much in a squished window. But, there are a lot more creative things that can be done with the call to actions to make frames a more unique experience than button pushes. https://warpcast.com/kyletut/0x2078f10a

hypercasual games. there were all sorts of games in frames from snakes to Cassie’s DOOM on launch day but frames being the way they are, i dont know anyone who stuck to playing games on frames including myself. composer actions makes UX way better. look at flappycaster for example
