Users with priority mode turned on, like priority mode. Users without the power badge, don’t like priority mode and want more visibility to users with priority mode turned on. Making power badge more permissive, increases spam. Makes everyone unhappy (except the spammers) Solve for X.

Power badge has flaws, but haven't seen a concrete proposal for a deterministic alternative to the power badge. Most suggestions for improvement are: "sounds like a hard problem, but whatever system you put in place should give me the power badge." :)

"Use X algorithm!" OK, so now you've made a new population of people happy / unhappy. Also, you've likely increased spammy users with the new badge.

Make tiers of Power Badges. Right now it's day and night. PBs interact only with PBs. Everyone else might just be a bot, and it's cumbersome to check, so to hell with them - some might think. By having tiers you'll show the advancement to a regular user and make them interact more with each other.

Maybe if the algorithm for who gets the power badge were completely open we could give specific feedback on what to improve.

Vouching — mvp is high trust users get 1 vouch each to promote someone without a PB, could be public (like pre-permissionless invites) and they lose something if vouchee spams I prefer priority, but wish a bit more got through my bubble and for better onboarding of new users Inspired by @goose

I don't think it's a bad system at all. People will always find something to complain about. Specific badges for bots or similar things are cool, but they don't add function from what we already have. Maybe...power badges older users could have a different color and be a better rank than new ones? But idk...

I may not have a solution to offer, but I have always kept my badge so far because I enjoy discovering everything that is being built and I am always interested in new projects. I believe that not getting stuck in one's own circle, but rather opening up to others, is a good foundation for keeping one's power badge

power badge sponsorships. like apprenticeships where you'd be under a main power badge that will be responsible for your shenanigans etc. power badge users who abuse their sponsor power would lose theirs etc.
