Pretty sure those apps exist already but aren't mainstream and unlikely to become, especially outside of one country. For strava for cooking the biggest obstacle I think its that it's really hard to find all of the identical or similar ingredients and then US vs rest of the world values for amounts you need. And then have those ingredients fresh and with you to get started, then you also have preferences and likings which adds a lot of complexity.

I just read through this and I agree. I struggle with the recipe conundrum: buying food to fit a recipe and then half of what I bought never gets used again. Waste of money! What has helped me is gardening. You gear your cooking to what is ripe, and simplicity becomes the norm. Not a ton of funny supermarket ingredients that you are only going to use once. The /gardening channel is helpful for this type of social networking. Relatively small community so I understand you are thinking globally.
