Why do you trust Apple more than Google? Why not consider another service such as Proton instead?

Push back on FBI e2ee in iMessage Advanced data protection I think Google is as good or better at the security, but ultimately their business model requires more compromises. And yes I know Apple has an ad biz.

Not to pick a fight, but disagree with: "I think Google is as good or better at the security, but ultimately their business model requires more compromises." Apple has an advantage since they also control the hardware and app distro. Google's latest misstep: https://twitter.com/mysk_co/status/1651021165727477763

I definitely agree that google handles security very well, however I wouldn’t use any product that tied my 2FA tokens to a google account — lose your account because google’s automated systems deemed you a problem and you lose everything, no recourse.

Google is for enterprises looking to make the cost of employee compromise too expensive even for nation states (via hardware tokens and MDM). Given these enterprises usually consider iPhone the most secure platform, there’s opportunity for Apple to have a comparable offering with vertical integration.

As an insider. I sometimes hate Google's tight security because it makes my work much harder and have to jump through hoops and complicate my systems more just so I can adhere to the security rules and don't need to get audited.
