Making invites better We're strongly considering giving out more free invites to active users. We're also considering rewards for inviting users that end up sticking around. How you can help 1. What's an app that has a good invite flow (from your pov)? 2. Assume invites were free, is there another reason you're not inviting people to Farcaster right now? 3. If we automatically created a new group DC with each person you invited and you + a bot that drip fed tips to being successful on Farcaster -- would you be willing to sherpa?

would be cool if inviting users that stick around was a multiplier on weekly caster rewards. seems sybil-resistant?

Acquisition -> Activation -> Retention best invite flows immediately give the invited user something to do i.e. fulfill both the Acquisition + Activation part of the funnel. That "something" is ideally desirable + time sensitive. E.g. Snapchat invite to see this disappearing photo. Farcaster might not fit exactly along those lines but if the invite flow was such that the incoming user immediately had something to do (ideally connected to the inviter), it would be more effective. E.g. send an invite to Farcaster as part of a frame game where the invited user knows someone in their social circle is waiting on them to take an action on the frame. Activation has an energy threshold that must be crossed to consider "activated" (e.g. 7 friends in 10 days). Invites should help cross that threshold. - free invites obv make the above better, whenever I invite I try to pay with warps upfront - DCs help but are complementary to the above imo, they will help with retention only after their is enough activation energy.

@haole's @newcaster (newcaster.org) is working on this. it simplifies Farcaster registration via onchain payments, with higher OpenRank users receiving free invitation slots weekly.

1. Cryptpad and @fileverse. Invited users can immediately use the app and only sign up if they decide to stick around. 2. - Need to download an app on their phone to sign up. - My friends who aren't already on Farcaster would be immediately turned off by the crypto focus. 3. No, but the bot alone would be cool

re 3: Im adding people we invite for /bracket + $bracky into big Newbie group chats. Things that would be nice: + frames and starter packs are usable from within frame + add your warpcast bot to our existing group + read DC api so we can add own bot

I use @newcaster to help active Farcaster user to claim invites for free. However, not too many people love to invite.. . There are some free invites leftover each week.

Something that might help the flow is to bootstrap the invitees network with the inviter's list of followed accounts. Probably do a random subsample + minimum number of people you would need to be following to prevent gaming but I think it would help with the cold start problem. Functional workaround right now would be a starter pack ig but that seems like a lot of friction for the inviter.

for 3, i can’t remember who discussed this but i liked their idea and think it might work better than invitee + all invited gc — having a ‘class of x’ group chat / label for all new users for that week (and then maybe throw the bot in there too, could even possibly boost their presence on each others feed, kinda like a tutorial island almost) allows new people to grow together and maybe then even ‘graduate’ at some point (say after a month) also not quite on topic w invites but in the same vein — but maybe some sort of event / incentive / celebration for FID 1000000?

1000% yes on #3, i really love this idea. The one time I have paid for someones account I got marked as spam when I sent them a DC lol. If invites were free i would be texting a few people right now telling them to sign up.

I think that’s a great idea! I know the biggest issues I’ve come across when on-boarding people is the cost and them feeling lost w channels and feeds etc. Would be happy to Sherpa in a dc with users I’ve on-boarded 🫡 Also, the reward stacking for continued users sounds like a great idea to me, as it effectively pays for the Sherpa’s time & energy (which can be incredibly time consuming, if at the same time rewarding)

Love the group DC idea... the bot drops in something and then I'm able to add color and contextualize it for the individual

Love this. I already Sherpa new users. An AI agent that helps new users survive to D30 and beyond would be great too.

#3 feels like a heavy lift with a small upside. My challenge for onboarding is really one of “why” - I don’t know anyone looking for what’s here. My biggest opportunity would likely be finding a crypto newbie who finds Twitter too toxic but wanted to keep up to date on the meta.
