but it suggests the pattern is breaking:
In 2022, price and search interest went down while devs stayed flat.
In 2024, price went up, search interest flat, but ~40% of developers left the industry.

short term - i think we should stand up a compliant privacy pool on base. lots of good work has been done on this. people will be able to use this in the same way they use coinbase.com today — to route through to get new private addresses. on top of this, other people can build things like one click "get me a new private address" in wallets — it's a very simple primitive, but unlocks a ton. 

medium term - in parallel, we need to do R&D to figure out how we build privacy natively into the smart wallet + L2 stack. the UX I have in my head is basically you can send and receive from private.jesse.base.eth and it's fully private, with no UX complexity. how we get there is not yet fully clear and there are a bunch of potential paths (stealth addresses, dedicated L3 private blockspace, native privacy in EVM), so we need to do some more in-depth research to figure out the right path, then start executing.

Very high production value! Need more of this.
A great job showing Ethereum's & Vitalik's evolution over the years.
Not so good at explaining the benefits of the tech, but that may not be feasible until more visible use-cases actually exist.

Yes, reporting is helpful.

We're also considering a more formal vouching system at some point.

However, on challenge is the people you are vouching for -- are you 100% confident they didn't have any spammy activity (that they may have deleted)?

Vouching only works if the person vouching has some skin in the game in terms of reputation. (That's how it works in the real world.)

This could be a cool way to bootstrap a web-of-trust, or fortify existing ones.

What if a site wants to manage a key directly, but have it derived from the user's wallet? This seems like a growing use case with embedded wallets. Should we have a method that just passes sites keys that are generated deterministically to their domains?

This is a great idea. Embedded wallets fragment the ecosystem, yet provide (locally) superior UX.
This proposal is a good middle ground: Standardize the way per-app keys are generated, then let each app control its unique private key to avoid signing confirmation popups.

Yet Farcaster ecosystem development doesn't seem to be slowing down.
