when hiring for a startup: curiosity and ability to learn new things. don't care what you already know, I want to be sure you'll be able to perform a task starting from 0 in a reasonable amount of time. ideally 1 or 2 weeks. move fast, break things.

A well rounded individual with passion and drive. A person that wants to improve his or her skills. I wouldn’t hire some that top of his class… in my experience they are harder to work with.
