Taking videos at shows has gotten out of control. Debatably worse than tipping culture in the US. The online part of me is fired up about it but feels like people care more about proving they were at the show than the show itself.

I hear you and agree..from what I've been noticing, its the really big popular shows that have this problem. Like all art, there are plenty of people in it for what some of the purists would say "the wrong reasons." But idk almost doesn't even really seem like a problem. It doesn't effect my experience.

it's a new hybrid 'experience primitive' your nervous system still needs to be there, and your first person shooter style recording can feed your memory forever, plus showase/boast/virtue signal you were there to others.

Classic social proof at work! Let me show everyone back home how amazing my event was. It's disheartening to see how much the music scene has changed in the past decade. I think once concerts become fully virtual reality experiences, it's going to mark the end of an era.
