6. We could have renamed channels to communities or groups. But then the issue is people would have said what happened to channels. 7. Most people can’t be bothered to read the manual / what’s changed. So part of my job is to repeat that 100-1000x across a variety of casts and replies. 8. Another issue is the original group of channels that got huge audiences as a result of the growth earlier this year. People see the big follower number and want access despite the new model not giving you a distribution boost / explicitly designed to not have canonical topics. 9. Removing the legacy channels wouldn’t be good since some owners did do a bunch of work in the model to grow them.

Most people would be better off with a simple static site than Wordpress. Static sites are faster, cheaper, and easier to edit. And because you own your content in plain text you can more easily switch site generator or host. You're can't be held hostage.

did my first all day offsite yesterday with the @coinbase exec team. a few quick observations: 1. this is a real team — brian, emilie, alesia, max, & greg have now been working together for 5+ years — and it shows. 2. the level of rigor of strategic thinking + execution is incredibly high. thinking on the scale of years+decades, while consistently driving short term execution. 3. they get onchain — and are leading the way in shaping what it means to bring a massive public company onchain. I mostly listened and learned — I'm excited to be a part of this team and to bring the perspective I have from being in the onchain trenches every day with all of you. onwards!
