from my experience the kumbaya is genuine; people are willing to *try* your product. what happens after that is reality: either they stick around because product is compelling or they don’t because the truth is product sucks - simple as. fwiw im both sides: i tried unlonely and im also trying to grow a product here.

I say this from a place of caring: it sounds like a skill issue. Your experience happens anywhere where partnerships are a legit GTM. Everyone will always blow smoke up your ass to make the partnership happen. It’s your job as a founder to participate in the kumbayah while ensuring your product makes forward progress. This can be really hard.

Understood! And then those who still want to build a product within this ecosystem… should we have its concept, process and feedback unconnected from this “kumbaya” mentality if this the mentality in these ecosystems? I totally see the point of this, related to saving energy and time spent on trying to enter, be part or feed the “game of favors” you mentioned; and then use that time and energy to build a really compelling product that can go beyond. Besides the trick or whatever the trick is within, there will always be people who find compelling a product that only works in this way 😓
