I am not from japan but i know some places where my cousins visited few months ago. You can visit Okayama and Miyajima Island.

Hm I’m a city guy but here’s some loved spots: - Kamakura for a beach town vibe. - Karuizawa, Japan’s Whistler, BC. Lot of wealthy peeps have vacation homes here for skiing and relaxing. - Izu coast, take the Sapphir Odoriku and stay in some resorts on the coast line down thru Shizuoka. - Okinawa - Fukuoka, another city but it’s got charm and hakata ramen

When you go to "Nara", you can encounter a very strange sight of wild deer all over the city! I highly recommend it!

Hmmm... too late to hike Mt Fuji, too early to snowboard in Nagano... Take the shinkansen south... visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial + Miyajima Island + Okunoshima Island, maybe? A bit further south (near Iwakuni) there is a pretty unique structure - the Kintai Bridge - 5 wooden arches spanning the Nishiki River...

Abashiri in Hokkaido. I went there on my honeymoon. There is the site of a famous prison in Japan, and I could feel the history. Also, the seafood and farm products are delicious. In particular, the potatoes I ate at a farm cafΓ©, which was located on a farm road, were excellent. I still can't forget the steamed potatoes with butter on top. Encounters with wild animals are also enjoyable. You can see red-crowned cranes, foxes, and deer. There are also beautiful ponds and lakes.
